KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Multi-level marketing company, Hai-O Marketing Sdn Bhd, expects its revenue to grow by at least 10 percent for the financial year ending April 30, 2010, driven by aggressive advertising and promotion (A&P) activities.
Managing director Ng Lip Yong said since March, the company had undertaken an intensive A&P which involved television advertisements as well as changing the look on 30 billboards.
"We have come up with more modern looking billboards along highways and in strategic locations, so that everyone knows about Hai-O.
"Morale is high within the company and this has actually given confidence to our distributors," he told Bernama in an interview.
The company posted revenue of RM350 million in the financial year ended April 30, 2009, a more than 20 percent growth from the RM280 million recorded the previous year.
The company has already reached its target of 100,000 members for this year.
According to Ng, Hai-O is hopeful of adding at least 3,000 new active members monthly before the end of the year.
"When the economy is bad, it is usually the time when many people come in search of an extra income. I think the Malaysian economy is in a recovery phase, which makes the situation even better now," he added.
Ng disclosed that to encourage more new business, the company was offering several incentive schemes to its distributors, who manage to achieve specific targets.
Recently, it spent RM2.4 million to send 426 distributors on the Umrah under the incentive scheme. This was also the largest group under this scheme. It had organised a similar incentive programme in 2004 and 2007 but involving only a smaller group.
Hai-O Marketing, which recently spread its wings to Indonesia, is looking at between one to two years before the operations there can start contributing to the company's earnings.
"We are going to have international sponsorship for Indonesia. This means a Malaysian distributor, can sponsor Indonesian downline distributors. This is the first step for us in expanding overseas.
"We have started to receive applications from people interested in becoming members in Indonesia," he said.
The Indonesian office started operations last month.
Ng said the company expects to have 5,000 to 10,000 new members in Indonesia in its first year of operation.
For the initial operation there, Hai-O has spent US$1 million.
"Indonesia is a market a lot of Malaysians are looking at and quite a number of companies have been successful over there. Basically, you must have the right product, pricing and marketing plan as well as leadership," he added.
Among Hai-O's products that are expected to garner interest is, its water filter, the Bio Aura.
